The McKinnon Swimming Club, established in early 2025, is dedicated to extending the school’s competitive swimming program in an elite, team-oriented environment. The club aims to develop swimmers’ techniques across all four strokes, as well as important race skills that will benefit them across all events.
Equally, the club is proud to foster a supportive and passionate environment, enabling students to fulfil their potential both in and out of the pool.
The club is nationally recognised as a competitive organisation, with regular opportunities to compete at regional and state levels.
At this stage, the McK Swim Club squads are divided into two groups, as outlined below:
Development Squad:
This program, typically catering for Year 7-8 students, heavily emphasises stroke development for swimmers who are transitioning from Learn to Swim programs into club standard.
Performance Squad:
Swimmers in the performance squad (typically Year 9 and above) work to hone their race skills in a competitive, supportive environment. These swimmers are expected to participate in multiple training sessions per week, and are encouraged to make use of McKinnon’s various strength and conditioning programs.
Weekly Training Schedule:
Both squads have access to the following sessions, running weekly each term:
Tuesdays: 7:00-8:00am (Gym)
Wednesdays: 7:00-8:00am (Pool)
Thursdays: 7:00-8:15pm (Pool)
